1999 Ford Ranger electric conversion

Al has converted a 1999 Ford Ranger into a pure electric truck which he calls ‘EPT2′ (EPT1 was his first electric car…a 1972 Datsun Pickup). Al says in the article that his new EV Truck has a range of about 35-40 miles and tops out at a respectable 60 Mph. His conversion parts are standard parts such as lead acid batteries and an off-the-shelf electric motor. Overall the truck weights about 4,540 lbs and is a comfortable ride. He says hasn’t changed his lifestyle much except for the fact that he doesn’t have to fuel up anymore and can still enjoy his truck just like he used to. Read More at Al’s website

Electric Delorean

Here’s something you don’t see everyday…an electric Delorean. Definitely an electric car that’s a head-turner. Dr. Delman converted his Delorean after being inspired by the documentary ‘Who killed the electric car’. He used 13 lead acid batteries and a 9 inch electric motor. The range isn’t spectacular…only 25-30 miles but it can go up to 85 Mph. Only 3 miles faster and it would be able to travel through time! The only question we have is where is the flux capacitor?

Electric Car for under 10K

Built in the USA the Pure Electric EV will be going for under 10 G’s. Don’t get too excited just yet…there is no mention of AC and the working prototype doesn’t even have windows. It looks like a neat project that needs a few generations of modifications before its ready for market but they will be ready to take your money in September. Mentioned in the video is a top speed of 65 Mph, sealed AGM Lead Acid batteries and freedom from the pump. We’ll post more on this vehicle when we get some updates.

Two Canadians Build Ultra-Cheap $672 Electric Car!

Two friends constructed a street legal electric geo metro from second hand parts and fork lift parts. The top speed is only 40Mph and the range is about 15-25 miles but hey its still pretty cool for a car that was probably going to end up in the junk yard anyway.
