Zap to build 3-Wheeled EV for 2009

31 01 2008

Zap of Santa Rosa, CA who’s early cars are notoriously slow has a new EV in the works. This one is supposed to have a top speed of over 100Mph and a range of 150 miles! Last time I computed my weekly commute it comes to only 110 miles so this should work out just fine for you city commuters looking to save some petrol and have fun while doing it! Check out more details at CNET and you can always check out Zap World for details. 3-Wheeled vehicles typically have much better cornering capabilities so seeing this car in action will certainly be exciting to see.

Miles XS500

13 11 2007

The Miles XS500 comes from a company who is very passionate about electric cars. Compared with other up-and-coming EV’s the XS500 could pass as a regular car. Its like an EV in disguise! The specs are rather impressive 120 Mile range, up to 80 Mph top speed and at 30K you just can’t go wrong. Set for a 2009 launch we’ll be looking forward to seeing more details and video postings. Hopefully this car won’t experience the same launch date setbacks that the Tesla is going through.

Think Electric Car

11 11 2007

Think Electric Car was hurtin’ for a while but now they’re back with a shot in the arm in the form of new raised capital. Think’s car looks like it has the charm of a VW bug and has that european ‘look and feel’. It has a range of 110 miles and is available right now in Norway. Look out soon…they’ve got plans to ship this car to the United States. We’re gonna keep an eye on this one. The car is just so cute you can’t help but look at it twice! If the price is right I’m puttin’ my old gas guzzler on the auction block and snatchin’ one of these babies right up!

The 120-M.P.H. Electric Car!

11 11 2007

Can’t wait for all of these new EV’s to finally come to market? Counting down the days to see the new Tesla but just can’t wait? If so Hammacher Schlemmer has the car for you and they’ll gladly take your $108,000 you had burning a hole in your pocket for it. I remember this car was shown a few years back in popular science as a concept car but hadn’t heard anything since. It looks like it lived up to its initial specs!

0-60 mph in 4 Seconds
Top Speed of up to 120 mph
Range of 40-80 miles

To top it all you can park this thing in spaces where motorcycles would normally park. The length of the car is so short you can park perpendicular to the curb…which means you can park it basically anywhere. The only question we have is where can we go to test drive one of these puppies? Sign me up!

Nissan Pivo 2

11 11 2007

The new Nissan Pivo 2 EV concept car looks like it came out of a Jetson’s cartoon. Coming from Nissan you have to take it somewhat seriously considering that they are one of the ‘Big 3′ in Japan. Although this car doesn’t look like it will attract much attention from the middle america type, it will certainly draw attention from people living in overcrowded metro areas like Los Angeles, Chicago or New York City.
The car has a unique ability to revolve the cabin 360 degrees making difficult parking a thing of the past. Pivo is packed with all sorts of techie goodies such as a front and rear camera that is meshed together so you can see everything in a bird’s eye view.

TZero from AC Propulsion

11 11 2007

Made from thousands of laptop batteries the tzero can take down any street car off the line. Unfortunately this car is not slated for production and is just a concept and development vehicle.

Zenn 2.22

11 11 2007

This neighborhood vehicle is a neat vehicle for it’s niche area. This car will most likely never meet the needs of the daily commuter. For uses like meter maids, campu university cars, large factory complexes and other similar uses this car certainly fits the bill. Of course the price will need to come down a bit but in time as Zenn’s production level increases and more competitive companies surface this will likely happen.
