Chevy Volt gets 230 Mpg rating

The Chevy Volt has received a rating of 230 mpg. Don’t be deceived…the 230 mpg rating doesn’t actually apply to its regular gas milage which is 50 mpg. Confused? We were too. It seems the term ‘mpg’ has become more of a marketing term than anything else and is also being used for electric cars that don’t use a drop of gas. Shouldn’t they have a new rating? MPW or miles per watt or MpKw miles per kilowatt?

Zap raises $25Mil

Nissan announces all electric leaf

Nissan has announced its all new, all electric leaf. The leaf can go 100 miles on a single charge with 5 adults on board. Its advanced lithium ion battery can charge in 30 minutes at commercial charging stations and 8 hours from a normal household outlet. Price hasn’t been announced but will be competitively priced and is part of Nissan’s new ‘vision’.

2.4 Billion Stimulus Grant for EV projects outlined

Finally! A stimulus package worth pursuing…but what is the real plan? The EV stimulus grant bill has been outlined and key states have been selected but what are the underlying agendas? Does big brother want big oil and foreign companies out of the equation? Obama says he wants hybrids and EV’s to stay here. We sure hope so…as long as it means cheap batteries for us!
