Bangalore Students develop hybrid e-vehicle prototype
Students at RVCE College in Bangalore have developed a diesel-electric hybrid based off of a basic Reva electric car. The motor is a 440cc diesel engine from Lombardini India that runs on a mixture of diesel and 10% bio-fuel. The students assembled and configured the hybrid controller and on-board computer that governs the switching of motor and battery. When the battery goes it switches to gas and charges the battery at the same time. Once the battery has a full charge the engine shuts off again.
