I want my MPD – 40 Miles per dollar!

Forget about MPG, a new company is starting a new concept…MPD – Miles per Dollar. In regular gasoline cars people don’t want to think about MPD (miles per gallon) because it will get them more depressed. With gasoline at $4.50 per gallon, it would cost $9.00 to go 40 miles in a car that gets 20MPG (most pickups and SUVs barely get that) and it would cost as much $5.45 to go 40 miles in a very efficient car like a Toyota Camry that gets 33 MPG. Even in a Toyota Prius that gets 50 MPG it would cost over $4 to go 40 miles. AFS Trinities concept multiplies the mileage to 150 Mpg over 3X the mileage of a Prius!

AFS Trinity has an interesting hybrid concept that is 4 years in the making. Its a hybrid gas/electric SUV converted from a regular car (A prototype Saturn Vue) and it can go 40 miles per charge…after that it runs on gas. The main problem they and many electric hybrid car companies encountered was a degradation of the battery packs from peak use which wears out the packs. To get around this problem AFS Trinity uses a pack of ultracapacitors to give boosts of juice and allow the batteries to discharge at normal levels. Right now their looking for some large auto manufacturers to license their technology.
