coda_electric_car
While Japanese companies are competing to provide the best hybrid car China is racing to bring the first electric car to america. Coda is working hard to bring an electric car that will promise 80Mph & 100Mph range. They also say they’re lithiom ion batteries should be able to withstand a 100,000 mile charge cycle and can offer this rig at around $32,500! Not too bad for an all electric car with normal standard features.

Exxon Assisted Electric Car?

exxonmobil

Seems like Exxon is investing in electric technologies. I guess they’ve come to the realization that oil will be mostly gone in 30 years and they should start investing in future technologies such as lithium ion. The car they are investing in is the Electrovaya initially developed by zenn Motors and Miles Automotive. It will have the basics…8-10 hr charge, 120 mile range and pricing should be around $20-25K

Micheling getting into Electric Car game

When you go electric things seem to get better and better and that’s just what Michelin is doing. Michelin is working with Heuliez and Orange to develop a new concept called ‘active wheel’ electric cars where everything is shoved into the hub of the wheel including the electric motor, electrical suspension system and shock absorber. This system eliminates the need for drive shaft, transmission, differential, exhaust and of course the main engine allowing automobile designers to have much more space to work with and also free up a lot of weight. Look for this technology to hit the public in 2011 at a price range of around $27,000-$34,000 per car.

LA Auto Show 2008

We took a stroll over to the Los Angeles Auto Show and have to say it was better than last year regarding electric vehicles, hybrids and other clean technologies. Although we expected more from some companies there were vehicles to see ‘in the flesh’ that we have been hearing so much about like the mini-e from bmw and the mitsubishi miev.
